Indiana Horse Rescue is to date, Indiana's largest equine rescue operation. IHR has six full time rescue facilities that operate 24/7 to help horses in need. We pride ourselves in providing quality care for horses that have been abused, neglected, abandoned, are at risk of going to slaughter, and/or are just in need of a permanent home! Please click through our website to view all the amazing things we have achieved! We are continuing to grow and continue to help improve equine welfare in Indiana. Record Numbers for 2006 We lost much of our data due to a computer crash and still do not have all the animals typed into the new software. However, we are amazed at the record number of horses that have come through Indiana Horse Rescue in one year. In this data we have not shown the breakdown as to why they came in, but many of the reasons are: due to law enforcement removal (neglect), owner can no longer keep: moving, divorce, change in jobs, etc.
We continue to need your support. These rescues have been a huge undertaking for Indiana Horse Rescue, and donations have been outstanding, however it is not over! We are still housing many horses that are ready for adoption and new homes and other horses ready to come in. We would like to thank everyone for their help, but also to ask you to please continue to donate so that we may continue helping the horses and finding the right homes for them! BEWARE Chad Olsson tried to con the rescue (IHR Southwest Facility) for over $1400.00. Indiana Horse Rescue Southwest ordered square bales of hay from a man who quoted us $2.50 per bale. That sounds very cheap this year, so the price was double checked - he even told us he liked to take care of rescues, the hay was ordered. After unloading the hay, we were asked for a check and the price was $7.00 per bale PLUS $2.50 per bale delivery - that was Outrageous - $9.50 per bale!! We ended up paying the man $200.00 for his fuel cost and labor to take the hay back vs. buying it. I understand there are a lot of gullible people in the world, and many that can afford to pay $9.50 per square bale of hay. The rescue does not pay exorbitant prices, we are very frugal in how all monies are spent. Every nickel & dime that comes into the rescue is spent in the best way possible for the horses. The rescue has since ordered hay from a reputable supplier which will be delivered at a much more reasonable price. Indiana Horse Rescue can purchase good quality hay at a much cheaper cost than the hay this con man was trying to sell to the rescue.

Thanks! We would like to thank all of our volunteers for their amazing support through all the neglect cases. We would like to thank the volunteers at all our divisions, the Sheriff Departments, Indiana State Police, Prosecutors, Veterinarians and all those who have donated. We are still in dire need of donations as the number of horses we are caring is at an all time high - and unfortunately hay is very hard to find and very costly. God bless you all!
